I reported in August that Sainsbury’s Knutsford Store had chosen Knutsford Community First Responder Trust as its “CHARITY OF THE YEAR”.
Since then they have filled the store with details of the Trust’s Heartstart activities and encouraged their shoppers to donate via the Heartstart collection tins.
Gareth Saunders, Manager of Sainsbury’s Knutsford, announced in August that they were also planning to hold a number of “special events” in the Knutsford community throughout the year with their staff participating in a range of sponsored events, such as Bunge-Jumping and possibly even Sky Diving!
The first event of the year was held last week when Sainsbury’s hosted a “Mega Tombola” in the store with a fantastic range of prizes donated by local retailers including PizzaExpress, Pulse of Perfumery, the Cha Bar, the Bath House, Guys and the Candy Workshop, together with donations from the public.
We were delighted with the generosity of the gifts received, said Gareth. The Tombola ran for 2 whole days, manned by his staff and supported by volunteers from the Trust
Adrian Rees, Chairman of the Trust again expressed his thanks to Sainsbury’s for honouring the Trust to be their nominated charity. “Providing the Knutsford Community a First Responder service, holding monthly Heartstart Courses for the public and installing Defibrillator’s in our community is obviously very expensive; without the continuing generosity of local businesses like Sainsbury’s and the Knutsford residents, we would be unable to maintain these life-saving services.
We are really looking forward to working with the enthusiastic Sainsbury Fund-Raising Team in all their forthcoming “special events”.
